Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title after the Rome competition and first on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has secured 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
